DVT is a deep vein thrombosis, or the formation of a blood clot in a deep vein. In many cases, the affected extremity will be painful, swollen and red. The most serious complication would be if the clot would dislodge and travel to the lungs.
Brookelyn da developed a DVT in her left leg after havin a central line inserted. She had to have Lovenox two times a day for three months to treat it. Her Lovenox treatment was suspended after her having her brain collapse on itself. It was monitored closely by ultrasounds.
