Somnolence

Somnolence is a state of near sleep, a strong desire for sleep, or sleeping for unusually long periods. It is considered a lesser impairment of consciousness than a stupor or coma. It has two distinct meanings, referring both to the usual state preceding falling asleep, and the other more chronic condition referring to being in that state independent of a circadian rhythm. The human body can become somnolent in response to infection. It promotes recovery by conserving energy while the body fights the infection using fever and other means.

Brookelyn was in a somnolent state for about a week at one point while she was hospitalized. While in this state she could even be poked by needles for blood draws or anything else and she would not be bothered by it.
